Address book Office Communicator 2007R2 does not update
When employees from your organization reports that the address book from Office Communicator is not synchronized after they log on to the application, then you can follow the instructions in the blog to resolve this issue.
Each day at 1:30 AM the Office Communication Server synchronize the address book. (Default configuration).
If there goes something wrong with the synchronization or maybe you have a corrupt Galcontacts.db file in your user folder, this problem may occur .
You recognize the problem when the icon in the taskbar looks like this:
Or you see the an explanation mark in the application:
First of all close Office Communicator and browse to the following location:
– %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Communicator\Sip User.
– Delete the Galcontacts.db and GalContacts.db.idx in the Sip Users directory.
After doing that:
– Open the registry
– Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator
– Create a new DWORD Value called GalDownloadInitialDelay and set its Value to 0
If you start Office Communicator and sign in the application will start to download the contact list immediately.
Without the value the contact list will update in a time windows from 0 -60 minutes.
Off course you can set the registry through a GPO, or use a third party software to make this happen.
