Did you ever noticed a delay when pressing you home button on a iOS device? (iPhone/iPod/iPad). With the delay, I’m referring to that it takes a little time to close the running application. Your iOS device is designed to run smoothly en really snappy. But closing an application can sometimes take op to a bit more than a second. Try it out for yourself. Or your friend’s device. Noticed it??? No?? Then you probably know every setting in your device Knipogende emoticon And you switched off everything you don’t need. But when you do notice it , here is the solution.

A couple of days ago, the PepperCrew had his monthly meeting. There was a little discussion about the new vSphere 5 release from VMWare. In the release notes there is mentioned that it will support OSX installations. I’m not convinced that that would work. There is a big community in the world who wants to install OSX in a sandboxed environment or even native on not Apple hardware. (Hackintosh or OSx86 etc etc). So, lets try some different scenario’s.

Apple supports only virtualized OSX Server installations on Apple hardware. Normal OSX installations aren’t supported or possible.

First Test: Install OSX Snow Leopard (10.6) in VMWare Fusion (On an iMac)

This is not allowed. The installer stops with the following error:

Second Test: Install OSX Snow Leopard Server (10.6) in VMWare Fusion (On an iMac)

The real start was at 10:30 with:

Keynote 1: A Single Handheld Device for Everything: The Nirvana Phone, Heaven or Hell? By Jim Moyle and Andrew Wood.
They explained what a nirvana phone is  a single computing device. that has your computing power in the size of a phone that can be plug-in to your laptop or be used as a phone. What makes a nirvana phone?

  • audio
  • Citrix receiver
  • hypervisor
  • keyboard mouse
  • video out, and optionally a docking station

But on the other hand  it is a device that runs YAFH (Yet Another Fucking Hypervisor ;) )

Why or why not a nirvana phone……

Keyboard and mouse must be used trough Bluetooth.
There are some barriers to concur like video (specially the way to connect and the video support) but also the lack of CPU, Memory and battery.
A laptop? 80% leaves his or her laptop at the office.
A tablet? it is no phone or laptop but you don’t have it with all the time

At the end everybody knows what a Nirvana Phone is and why it must be a phone because you always want to have it with you. At the moment the phone is only available in the US (they will probably be available in Europe next week ) in and are not easily to adjust for Europe.

Keynote 2  was by Citrix “Consumerism of IT” by Simon Frost
The discussion is about BYOD this is a less entertaining session than the first also because the discussion about flexibility and BYOD was discussed in the session before. A A good part is the BYOI and who you gone trust and how you cone a ensure who may do what?

Alex Juschin made a enouncement about the name change from PubForum to E2E conference mainly for a more understanding what the meaning is for this conference and to get sponsors to make the conference a low cost conference white very good content.

whit the name change the grandfathers of Pubforum became board of advisers Pubforum is a export product to Dubai

The keynote of Shawn Bass was deliverd with military precision and with machine gun speed! and still it was very understandable! His presentation was only 5 slides and as usually he spoke fast! I saw Aidan Finn take notes I hope he could keep up! Nice to see that both wear the PepperByte lanyard :)

The last keynote was by Cathal Cleary, Systems Engineer and Ian Moore, Ireland Country Manager both working for VMware. The presentation was about the vCloud director en how the “latest” new products like vShield  e.g. works on a flexible and secure solution base on the cloud! Sorry to see that the public was a little bit bored but we like the way they did the presentation

I’m currently trying to install Impromptu Administrator. But on the net I can’t find any serious document/howto of a silent/unattended installation. So here’s my tutorial. ;)

Sorry for the Dutch screenshots ;)

First we do a manual installation. This will generate the response files. This isn’t documented here ;) After the installation you have an “ats” file in te following location: installation locationinstlog
image Copy this file into your installation source. (In the directory Cognosimpa)

imageIn zowat elk spel is er wel een “god mode”. Oftewel alles kan en mag :P In Windows 7 zit er ook 1. Maar een map aan en hernoem deze naar: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

In target staat: %windir%explorer.exe

Verander dit naar: %windir%explorer.exe /n, /e, /select, C:

Dit zijn de parameters welke er gebruikt kunnen worden:

Using the Explorer.exe Command Line Syntax/:
%windir%explorer.exe [/n][/e][,/root],X,[[/Select],Y]
X specifies the object, and optionally with sub-object Y. The /e switch showes the left Windows Explorer tree view navigation pane together with the right pane in list view, while /n hides the left navigation pane. When the /root parameter is present, Explorer.exe will explore the root object X and objects belonging to X. On the other hand, when the /root switch is not present, Explorer.exe explores the object X, its children, and other Explorer objects as well. The /Select switch puts the focus on a file or folder.
For example:
%windir%explorer.exe /N,%WinDir%System32,/Select,%WinDir%system32calc.exe
The command above will explore the C:WindowsSystem32 folder and put the focus on the calc.exe (calculator) program.
