If you want to start an Command Prompt or Notepad elevated in Windows Vista or Windows 7 you have right click the application from the start menu and select ‘Run as administrator’.
Although this works fine, there has to be an easier way to do this!
Yes there is!
Type the name of the application you want to start elevated in the ‘Search Programs and Files’ box.
Select the application and use the shortcut key CTRL-Shift-Enter.
You now have started the Command Prompt with elevated rights. This method also works off course with ‘Notepad’ ‘Notepad ++’ and ‘PowerShell’ or any application you want to start elevated.
