‘Microsoft Outlook’ exited without properly closing your Outlook data file
After an Outlook crash the following error message can occur:
—————————
Outlook Data File
—————————
‘Microsoft Outlook’ exited without properly closing your Outlook data file ‘LocationOfOST.ost’. ‘Microsoft Outlook’ must be restarted. If this error message recurs, contact support for ‘Microsoft Outlook’ for assistance.
—————————
OK
And followed by:
—————————
Microsoft Outlook
—————————
Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened.
—————————
OK

Before removing your Outlook profile it’s safe to check your processes as one of these processes are used by Outlook as add-in. In my case the process ‘ucmapi64.exe‘ (Microsoft Lync) was causing the issue. After killing the process Outlook was able to start without any problems!
