After disconnecting VPN – no network connection and PING returns: No resources

I’m hibernating my Windows laptop all the time, but after a while, I get a strange error when I disconnect my VPN. After disconnecting the VPN there is no way to communicate with a resource on the network or Internet whatsoever. Disconnecting, disabling or resetting the WiFi adapter will not work. Also restarting several network related services will not fix this issue.

When pinging, for example, google.com results in: No resources.

The solution

So after a while troubleshooting I accidentally disabled and enabled the device WAN Miniport (IP) in Device Manager (go to Start – Run – devmgmt.msc – Enter).

Device Manager

Now select the WAN Miniport (IP) and press the Disable device button. After it has been disabled press the Enable device button.

You will see that the connection to the network and Internet is restored.

Regards,

Daniel

See Twitter conversations as a network

When you go to this link: http://apps.asterisq.com/mentionmap and type a twitter username u can see the network of that twitter account like a mindmap.

twitter mindmap

You’re looking at a map of mentions.
Each user is connected to the people and hashtags they mentioned the most in recent tweets. When you click a node you can explore the neighborhood. The line thickness depends on the number of tweets. I think this is a cool tool!
